June 2007: With help from The Sanctuary, the Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics & Technology) is sponsoring a much-needed evening of fun and relaxation for our Wounded Warriors at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Christmas 2006: We are holding Operation Gifted Hope again and handing out presents to the wounded at Walter Reed Army Hospital on Wednesday, December 20th, and Bethesda Naval Hospital on Thursday, December 21st.

December 2006: 

We received a donation of two new Apple MAC notebooks, and one MAC desktop.

In the process of receiving donated land in the Bryce Mountain Ski Resort, Viginia

October 2006:  We moved into our retreat facility.  It was unfurnished but it was ours.

September 11, 2006: We signed the papers on our very first full time Sanctuary Retreat, a 5500 sq foot log lodge overlooking the mountains located 55 miles W of Washington, DC in the Shenandoah Valley

September 2006: The Loudoun County Observer of northern Virginia ran an article on ‘The Sanctuary’.

August 2006:  We worked with Carolina Golf Cart and together donated a customized seven passenger golf cart to the recovering Marines at the Wounded Warrior Support Section, of II MEF, Camp Lejeune, NC

July 2006:  Founding Director Jon Norsworthy met with Country Music star Charlie Daniels to tell him about the work of The Sanctuary

Christmas 2005:  This was the first time we held Operation Gifted Hope.  In three weeks we raised $45,000 and distributed multi-media presents (MP3 players, Game Boxes, Personal DVD players) to the wounded at Walter Reed Army Hospital, Bethesda Naval Hospital, Brooke Army Medical Hospital in San Antonio, TX, and the San Diego Naval Hospital

July 2005: We took a few veterans to include one involved in the Falluja offensive on a one week kayaking trip.  Each day was full of team building, having fun, and shedding our anxieties.  Each night was filled with open sharing and encouragement
